Handwritten receipt from the King of Queen Mary and King Philip, in English, stating that Thomas Scotherope has paid to Steven Tone of Burton Annias, by the hand of his servant Leonard David, the sum of twelve pounds and ten shillings, 1556; the verso features handwritten notes mentioning bulls issued by several popes to the Rectory Hospital of St Sepulchre of Hedon and a transcription of a bull issued by a Pope Innocentius referring to the hospital and a bovate of land in Ganstead Holderness, soiling and chipping to margins, age-related discolouration, some creasing, folio, 16th and 17th century.
