A mid to late 19th century Chinese export silver double gourd tea caddy or wine bottle, Canton circa 1870 retailed by Cum Shing

Qing dynasty, raised on three short feet, the body with embossed decoration of dense bamboo with birds, the screw cap domed lid surmounted by a chased leafy vine finial. The front with a shield shaped cartouche engraved with initials St W in gothic script monogram. Marked underneath CS overstriking itself and with artisan mark SHEN CHANG 慎昌. Housed in a contemporary case.
