Opaque pigments, pencil and ink heightened with gold on buff paper, comprising six portraits of Indian maidens from Punjab, clad in typical colourful long gowns, one wearing an encrusted gold headdress with a black heron aigrette reminiscent of Mughal examples, another with a green turban playing the vina, and another with a circular green and gold bonnet reminiscent of Qajar Iranian examples, and three similar, each approx. 13cm x 10cm.
