A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE KUBACHI POTTERY DISH
North Iran, late 17th - 18th century

Of shallow concave, circular shape, resting on a short straight foot, with a wide flattened rim, painted in deep cobalt blue against a white background, the Chinese-inspired decoration consisting of a central motif with fruits and flowers bordered with chequered niches, the cavetto and rim decorated with a repeated pattern of tufts of grass and trees with protruding branches bearing fruits, the back with blue lines, 35cm diam.
