A mid-19th century Dutch Colonial / Batavian (Indonesian) silver and agate snuff box, possibly West Java (Banten) circa 1850

of elongated octagonal form with a hinged lid raised by a shaped thumbpiece, the mounts with chased decoration of trailing lotus flowers, the mounts to the agate lid and base with chased foliate scrolls. Gilt interior. Unmarked.

Length – 9.8 cm / 3.8 inches

A mid-19th century bowl dated 1866, the exterior chased with trailing lotus flowers, probably from West Java is in the collection of the Weruld Museum (7082-S-451-1449)
