A DOUBLE PRONGED BIDRI SILVER-INLAID CANDLESTICK
Bidar, Deccan, Central India, late 18th - 19th century
Of typical shape similar to the previous lot, the central bulbous, vase-like base of the shaft stemming from a circular tray with everted rim, resting on four sloping feet with drop-shaped terminals, the detachable flat shaft designed as a cusped cartouche with spraying foliage and floral buds, at the top two candle holders with spherical body and wide flared necks, the exterior fully clad in bidri silver inlay, the decoration comprising stylised roses and lotus flowers, petal motif, vegetal trellis and lush palmettes, 41.5cm high and 24.5cm diam.
