A FINE PAIR OF BRONZE AND PARCEL GILT BUSTS OF BACCHUS AND APOLLO ON ROUGE CAMPAN GRIOTTE MARBLE COLUMNS ATTRIBUTED TO GEORGES SERVANT (FRENCH, 1828-1890) CIRCA 1880 the patinated bronze busts raised on gilt bronze socles over marble columns with gilt bronze bases over stepped black marble plinths, 49cm high (2) These highly decorative and very fine quality busts can be attributed to Servant based on their similarity to a pair of identical size and form sold at Sotheby's, 22 April 2010, lot 418 ($8750). The Sotheby's pair were stamped with Servant's GS stamp and differed only in that they were gilt bronze rather than patinated bronze.
