A TINNED COPPER DISH WITH AN ARMENIAN INSCRIPTION
Possibly Armenian quarter in Jerusalem, Ottoman Provinces, dated 1729

Of shallow rounded shape, resting on a short circular foot, rising to curved walls and an everted flat rim inscribed in the round in Western Armenian characters reading "Donated to the St. James Church in Jerusalem in 1729", a 12th-century Armenian church in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem, near the quarter's entry Zion Gate, 19cm diam.
