AN ENGRAVED MALAY SILVER LIDDED BOX

Of cylindrical shape, with a convex circular lid, the exterior engraved with overlapping horizontal bands of scrolling vegetal trellis, stylised palmettes and zig-zag fretwork decoration, on one side of the lid a crescent-like gold plaque inscribed 'Presented by His Majesty The Sultan of Brunei' in English, the base engraved in Jawi script Brunei, and stamped M. OM. in Roman characters, 7cm diam. and 9cm high, weighs 129g.
