A comprehensive Victorian Copeland dinner set, circa 1853, commissioned by George Courtauld, probably for his new home at Gosfield Hall, purchased in 1854, each piece decorated with the Courtauld Coat of Arms, having a repeating swirl frieze border, the lids with acorn and acanthus leaf finials, all fully marked with the Copeland 1851 to 1895 mark to verso, the service comprising 28 dinner plates, 11 soup bowls, two vegetable tureens, a sauce tureen with lid, two saucers, three serving dishes.
