PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF LORD JOHN KERR ENGLISH SCHOOL (20TH CENTURY) Portrait of Philip Kerr in his ceremonial attire as Rouge Croix Poursuivant  signed with monogram ED interlaced lower right Oil on canvas   102 x 76cm (40 x 30in) Philip Kerr MVO (1886-1941) was fourth son of Admiral of the Fleet Lord Walter Kerr. After coming down from Pembroke College, Cambridge, he served in the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War. He was appointed Rouge Croix Pursuivant to the Royal College of Arms in 1928. He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve at the beginning of the Second World War and died on active service in Egypt.
