Jaipur, Rajasthan, North-Western India, the necklace 21st century, the emerald pendant and beads 18th - 19th century

The modern necklace alternating natural pearls with drop-shaped beads of rubies and carved emeralds on a white cotton string, with a modern green cotton sliding knot clasp, 18.5cm long excluding the green cotton string; and the emerald pendant carved on each side with a rose stem surrounded by thick foliage, caparisoned with two smaller emerald beads and a pearl and ruby pendant, the emeralds once part of an earlier necklace sharing the stylistic features of carved Mughal emeralds of the late 18th - 19th century, 2.3cm x 2.5cm at widest points.
