TAXIDERMY: AN INDIAN LEOPARD SKIN ( PANTHERA PARDUS PARDUS), BY TOCHER & TOCHER, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

with snarling open-mouthed head mount, glass eyes, backed on to typical period canvas material with faded black serrated felt border. Full taxidermist's trade label to verso. Tocher & Tocher were a small company working in Bangalore circa 1906-1968, their mount's were in such a similar style to that of the much larger company of Van Ingen Van Ingen that some orders were subcontracted to Tocher & Tocher to complete when Van Ingen Van Ingen were too busy to fulfil orders in a timely manner. This short period of business increases the rarity of such mounts.
