TAXIDERMY: A BENGAL TIGER (PANTHERA TIGRIS) HEAD BY THEOBOLD BROS., INDIA

TAXIDERMY: A BENGAL TIGER (PANTHERA TIGRIS) HEAD BY THEOBOLD BROS., INDIA LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY mounted on original solid wood shield with metal hanging loop and taxidermists stamped metal oval label to reverse reading ‘Theobald Bros. Taxidermists. Mysore. S.India’. Stencilled job number to reverse of shield ‘7062’. (A tiger head with job number 9636 was dated April 1908, this head therefore predating 1908).

The Theobald Brothers were contemporary taxidermists to van Ingen and van Ingen, both firms producing high quality mounts.

Overall: 51cm deepp x 53cm high
