Jacques Lassaigne, Paris (acquired from the artist). Lassaigne (1911-1983) was an eminent art historian, curator and museum director. President of the International Association of Art Critics (1966-69) he was chief curator of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (1971-1978). A prolific author, he wrote extensively on artists ranging from El Greco and Goya to Miró and Matisse.
Purchased from the above by the present owner in the early 1980s
