Burma (Myanmar), late 19th - early 20th century

Each of pyriform shape, with a compressed globular body resting on a gently splayed circular foot, rising to tall conical necks, the exterior a tour de force of repoussé work with several horizontal decorative bands featuring cusped cartouches filled with birds (on the neck) and traditional Burmese characters (on the body), vegetal scrolls around the rim, and several rows of stylised fleshy palmette leaves, the pair 19.5cm high, 216g and 230g (246g together).
