A rare polished and frosted glass bird in original metal lamp-stand, produced by HG Ascher Ltd in Manchester, England, between 1928 and 1939
stamped to base with the tradename 'Red Ashay'
Dimensions: 40 cm high, 17 cm wide
Provenance: sourced from vendor's grandfather who ran a Jaguar showroom called Parkers of Bolton
Footnote: Red Ashay glass figures were produced as part of a range of mascots for luxury motor cars for the British market, to rival those of Lalique, and occasionally as paperweights.
