A large mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) silver tray, Isfahan circa 1960

Pahlavi dynasty, of rectangular form with rounded corners, the moulded rim with chased flower head sections. The field with profusely engraved ghalam zani decoration, centred with a shaped central vignette infilled with figures of musicians and dancers in traditional dress. This reserved against stylised foliate forms and peonies populated with birds and combatant lions, cornered with arabesque vignettes. Edged with alternating plain and trailing floral borders between a band of boteh interspaced with arabesque vignettes, corned with trellis work lozenges. Marked to the field edge with standard mark (۸۴) and marked sefareshi سفارشی (custom made).
