A late 19th / early 20th century Austrian 800 standard silver sugar box (zuckerdose), Vienna circa 1900 by Adolf Wawra (active 1897-1924)
Of rectangular form with rounded corners upon four cast open work bracket feet formed as scrolls and vine leaves. The hinged gently domed lid with an opposable open work rocaille scrolling handle, with a rocaille terrace. The body with embossed decoration of rocaille with foliate C scroll and foliage, the corners with chased quilted pattern. The lid edge with similarly embossed with rocaille and C scrolls. Traces of gilding to the interior. Lock mechanism, key deficient. Marked to interior base and near handle on lid.
