A MISCELLANEOUS GROUP OF THREE DEVOTIONAL PENDANTS AND A THIMBLE
Southern India, 18th and 19th centuries
Comprising a repoussé copper plaque on a silver setting depicting a folkish version of the Hindu god Vishnu, seated cross-legged and holding a club and a conch shell (his usual lakshanas) in his hands, 7cm x 5.8cm; two small repoussé silver pendants, the parcel-gilt one with the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge, Sarasvati, the latter with a dancer, the largest 3.8cm x 3cm; and a tiny silver thimble with a band of standing figures, some reminiscent of the Dashavataras of Lord Vishnu, 1.5cm high.
