Opaque pigments heightened with gold on wove paper, the vertical-format, miniature-like composition depicting a densely populated encampment scene with several chronological registers, in the foreground a military procession of numerous soldiers about to begin led by three musicians part of the military band, in the middle ground golden chariots and palanquins, elephants with howdahs, horses and many musicians possibly joining a ceremonial procession or honouring the troops with a visit, terminating in a crowded gathering of illustrious men, the background featuring more animals used in battle, cannons, and various tents in a military camp, set within concentric polychrome rules, mounted, glazed, and framed, 43.5cm x 31cm including the frame.
