FIVE IMAGES OF A SMALL GIRL “Photographer to the Emperor of France and the King of Italy”. Called‘Le Gray of Nice’ he was active as a photographer in Rome during the 1850s and was portraitist to King Victor Emmanuel. At the 1852 London Exposition his work was supported by Antoine Claudet. Around 1858 he established himself in Nice. Among many scientists he visited Le Gray’s studio in Paris to experiment with silver nitrate and later became photographer to the King of Piedmont. This collection shows 5 different images of a small girl posed on a wall.
