A pair of late 19th century Dutch 935 standard silver decorative spoons, Schoonhoven 1897 by Cornelis Rietveld (active alone 1865-1912)
The poly lobed bowls with flat chased decoration of either a man carrying pails between houses or of a church, all against pierced lattice work with flat chased foliate scrolls and rocaille. The stems formed as reproduction German one thaler coins of Johann Georg I (1620-1638), leading to twisted openwork with the terminals formed as galleons. Fully marked throughout and with import marks for Sheffield 1897 by Samuel Boyce Landeck. (2)
