A mid-20th century Chinese export silver claret jug or ewer, Shangahi circa 1940, marked Shao Ying Tang, retailed by Jade Store of Hong Kong
Republic period. Of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, the handle modelled as bamboo fitted with bone insulators, leading to a domed lid of conforming shape surmounted by a finial modelled as bamboo. The body and lid with chased decoration of bamboo populated with birds against a matted background. Marked underneath with artisan mark 邵鷹堂 (SHAO YING TANG), and retailer’s mark J.S.
