An early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver bowl, Lucknow circa 1910
Raj peirod. Of circular form with a scalloped rim, all upon a short cylindrical form foot embossed as scroll forms. The body with eight oval lobed sections chased with various figures, including on horseback, upon an elephant, fighting a lion, fighting a serpent, a Rakshasa, Kartikeya upon a peacock, all reserved with foliage. The surrounding areas with between the lobes dancing children with lion masks beneath, all reserved with foliate scrolls, the scalloped edge chased with stylised betel leaves. The underside flat chased with a circled form motif of foliage.
