AN IMPERIAL CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE 'BATS AND PEACHES' DISH.

Qing Dynasty, six character Daoguang mark and of the period.

The rounded sides supported on a slightly tapered base, the gilt-edged central medallion painted in bright colours with a central flower head with alternating blue, pink and yellow petals encircled by four lotus placed further enclosed by four alternately placed bats and peaches all borne on scrolling foliage, the rim with a band of peaches and flower heads on further coloured foliage, the exterior painted with elaborate lotus flowers separated with bouquets of peach, pomegranate and finger-citron suspending a bifurcated chime, and all borne on coloured foliage below a ruyi head band to the rim, the base with a six character reign mark in iron red, 24.5cm diameter.

Provenance: an English private collection.
