A SAMANID BOWL WITH FLORIATED AND KNOTTED PSEUDO-KUFIC CALLIGRAPHY
Eastern Iran or Central Asia, 10th - 11th century

Of typical conical shape, resting on a short circular foot, slip-painted in white with bold black inscriptions in a floriated and knotted pseudo-Kufic calligraphic script decorating the inner sides of the bowl, all under a thin transparent glaze, 18.5cm diam.
