A late 18th century French First Republic 950 standard silver wine taster, Paris circa 1797/98 by Blaire-Simon Trotin (reg. 11 Frimaire 1800, Biff. 6 April 1808)

Of conventional form with chased spiral fluting and a stylised serpent ring handle. Engraved to the side J.B Charreyre. Makers mark underneath with un-official silversmiths' association mark (1794-97) also with 1798-1809 first standard mark, and large excise mark to side.
