Iran, 19th - early 20th century

Persian calligraphy in cobalt blue nasta’liq on paper, the nib 0.7cm wide, the three-word phrase expressing loyalty, in-filled with scrolling gold filigree, in broad cloudband revealing ivory field, finely illuminated with scrolling polychrome lotus flowers on gilt ground, the inner border with minute pricking, the border with repeating scrolling designs in gold and cobalt blue, in cream mount, mounted, framed and glazed, the folio 20.3cm x 30.2cm, 34.5cm x 45cm including the frame.
