Archive of architect Ivor Herne, works in India, architectural illustrations, plans, stage designs and sketches etc

Ivor Herne (1916-2000). Mid-century modernist and traditional architecture interest in India and the UK: a portfolio containing a large quantity of high-quality architectural drawings and plans from the mid-1930s to the 1970s covering architectural projects and principles in very fine draughtsmanship on good large format paper, of traditional and modernist styles, plus the artist’s stage set designs, and book plate illustrations, sketches plus a small collection of personal school career photographs. A large portfolio of architectural drawings, dating from c.1935 to c.1970, from undergraduate works through to professionally reproduced drawings plus other drawings and illustrations. . Good penmanship and dialogue between classically inspired and post-war ‘Festival Style’ modernist design and layout / typography. Some creasing and marking; many with the to-be-expected drawing pin marks at the corners. (c.70 qty)

India etc: a collection of drawing (on drawing paper and some blueprints) for projects and a ceremonial photograph “Farewell to Mr IAC Herne - Director of the Ministry of Public Building & Works in New Delhi, 24th November 1966 Projects include; new buildings for the UK High Commission in Calcutta; building projects in Calcutta and Kathmandu; the design for the British High Commission’s stand at the 1966 Delhi Flower Show; a new Garden Pavilion in New Delhi. Also a project in Dakar, Africa and a sheet of drawings for a UK Government building in Moscow (qty)
