An early 20th century Iranian (Persian) silver dish, Isfahan circa 1910
Qajar dynasty, of circular form with a broad rim with deep chased monabbat-kari decoration of a continuous frieze of figures including King Darius in combat with Ahriman, horses and others. The centre with an engraved ghalam zani decoration of a Safavid style courtly scenes showing seated figures drinking and in conversation around a fountain, musician to the base and a seated royal within an arched surround to the top section with musicians and a attendant servant, all against flower heads. Unmarked.

The combination of Isfahani style ghalam zani engraved decorcation of courtly scenes bordered with chased monabbat-kari borders in the Shirazi style is particularly noted on items bearing the mark of Ja'far, whom is credited with producing/retailing works in this combination of styles particularly for western consumption.
