A YALI BRASS SHRINE STAND AND A COPPER PLAQUE OF VIRABHADRA
India, 19th - 20th century

Comprising a brass stand, in the shape of a mythical yali, with bulging eyes, lion's mane and horse's body, surmounted by a square platform with hinges at the back, possibly used in a shrine or during processional ceremonies, 13cm x 12cm; and a moulded devotional copper plaque, covered in a sticky substance, possibly Indian gee, in the upper frieze a relief of the three main Hindu gods, Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu, 28cm x 15.8cm.
