Jerusalem, late 18th - early 19th century

The wooden frame of oval shape, clad in incised and red and black-painted mother-of-pearl tesserae, in the centre a polychrome-painted icon of haloed Christ on wood holding a cross, three epigraphic lines to the left, at the top of the frame a mother-of-pearl figurine of Christ flanked by two winged angels and surmounted by a cross, the motif of the double-headed eagle repeated three times across the whole frame, 44cm x 31cm.
