French Imperial Family, Napoleon III reign (1852-1870)
CARTE DE VISITE ALBUM of 30 IMAGES LARGELY RELATING TO THE FRENCH IMPERIAL FAMILY, Napoleon III (Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, 1808-1873, Emperor of the French, Nephew of Napoleon I), his wife EUGÉNIE (née Montijo, 1826-1920) & their son LOUIS (Eugène Jean Joseph, 1856-1879, Prince Imperial, killed while out with a reconnoitring party at Ulundi, Zululand). Subjects include a group photo showing the prince as an infant, one of the couple, 4 of Napoleon, 4 of the Empress and 8 of the Prince Imperial as a small boy with a drum and on a horse. The rest of the album comprises two photos of Prince Napoleon Bonaparte (1822-1891, youngest brother of Napoleon I) and 6 of his wife Princess Maria Clotilde of Savoy (1843-1911), photographers include André-Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri (1819-1889). The album ends with the President of the French Republic Feliz Faure, (1841-1899) and the advocate and orator Antoine Berryer (1790-1868), a last pair of photos of the Emperor and Empress, the latter hand coloured, and a photo of the writer and politician Eugene Pelletan (1813-1884). Cartes de visite, mounted in a contemporary album.
