A RARE 19TH CENTURY GILT BRONZE AND CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL STRUT CLOCK WITH CENTRE SECONDS IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS COLE the case of typical form with three triangular protrusions and engraved strapwork decoration, with champleve enamel panels, the centre of the Roman dial with similar enamel decoration, the dial with centre seconds hand, the case with scrolling easel support, the timepiece movement winding from the back 16.5cm high The movement is ticking but not fully tested or guaranteed. Please see J.B. Hawkins 'Thomas Cole and Victorian Clockmaking', 1975, which includes in one of the appendices a reproduction of the catalogue for the 1862 London Exhibition showing a remarkably similar clock to the present lot.
