A late 19th century Iranian (Persian) silver teapot, Kermanshah circa 1890-1900

Qajar dynasty, after the Russian model of inverted pear form with curved spout opposite a C scroll handle, the removable lid surmounted by a cast foliage finial. The body with deep chased monabbat-kari decoration of various vignettes of figures such as, Ashurbanipal killing a lion, equestrian combat of Shapur I and Roman emperor Valerian, Bahram V hunting all separated by lobed arabesques below a guilloche border. The lid with Khosrow Parviz on his favourite horse, Shabdiz. Unmarked. (2)
