A collection of autographs & letters by various musicians and other people of note to British musician and critic Marion Scott, thanking the recipient for her comments on musical pieces and performances, or for the invitation to musical or private events, including British composer and pianist Richard Henry Walthew (ALS, 23 November 1908; singer Agnes Larkom ALS, 20 January 1922; William H. Harris (ALS, 13th June 1917, & 10th June 1929); Henry Harris (autograph letters, 20 & 25 Feb 1933, one reads in part “I was deeply touched by the charming and delicate appreciation which you wrote for the tunes…”), typed letter signed by Sir W. H. Hadow, vice chancellor at Sheffield University, 19 June 1922; 8 June 1923 &16 June 1924); Maggie Taylor, ALS, Sidney (Shimmin), ALS 16 September & 10 October 1917; 27 June 1920; Elena Richmond; with two musical notes and an autographed postcard by American concert and recital violinist Guila Bustabo; a musical note by German cellist Carl Fuchs, & other documents and signatures of musical interest, v.s. *** Marion Margaret Scott (1877 – 1953) studied violin at the Royal College of Music from 1896 to 1904. She composed music and led her own string quartet, organising concerts of British chamber music in the period 1900-1920. Scott also founded with Gertrude Eaton and Katharine Eggar the Society of Women Musicians in 1911 and served as its President from 1915 to 1916. She published on and Beethoven, as well as editions of songs of Ivor Gurney (1938, 1952)
