A NEPALESE GILT-BRONZE PLAQUE FRAGMENT.

13th Century.

With a repoussé design of two Buddhist scenes among a scrolling foliate stem, depicting a bodhisattva standing on a lotus blossom with three attendant figures, beneath, a meditating Buddha handing an offering to two monkeys, a figure of an apsara above them, all between bands of beads and stylised flames and foliage, details picked out in gilt and red paint, 31 x 22cm.

The plaque is a fragment with tears to the edges, dents, paint and gilt losses and patina.
