An early 20th century Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) silver lime box, Kandy circa 1930
Of oblong form with a hinged domed lid. The lid with deep chased decoration of a bodhisattva surrounded by thin foliate scrolls edged with a repeating dot border. The sides with deep chased elephants and hamsa birds among thin foliate scrolls. The underside with a finely flat chased hamsa bird regardant within foliate scrolls against a ring punched ground. Marked to the base bezel with lion rampant sinha mark and KAA (Kandyan Arts Association).
