Rare memorial card for the victims of the Denham Massacre (1870), embossed decoration, black margins, some foxing and handling wear overall, 7.6 x 11.7cm.
***In May 1870 seven members of the Marshall family in Denham, Buckinghamshire, were brutally killed insider their home. The police investigation led to the arrest of John Owen, an armed and dangerous criminal with a long record of petty offending. Following a day-long trial, Owen was convicted of the capital crimes and executed at Aylesbury Gaol by the notorious hangman William Calcraft.
