An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver bowl, Mandalay circa 1900
Of gently compressed circular form with a fold over rim. The body with embossed decoration of figures centred with a seated figure below parasols, also a sword wielding figure on horseback, all against a chased textured ‘wallpaper’ background. The upper section with chased bands of trailing acanthus scrolls and rosettes, the lower section with a band of stylised betel leaves. The underside chased with a maker’s mark of a recumbent dear in a scalloped circular cartouche.
