Hughes (Thomas)

Hughes (Thomas)

Autograph letter signed ('Thos. Hughes') to 'Bricknell', reporting that "I have already written to the good but peppery and impulsive Dr. of whom I am as fond as you are. I don't make out quite what his intentions are but fear it is not at all off the cars that we may lose him this time (tho' I believe it is by no means the first time that he has made a similar effort'). I will certainly lubricate him at his gallery on Friday, and anything else you can suggest shall be done as far as I am concerned, as I would very heartily regret losing him. I have not heard how the proxies have come in today, but I can't imagine that there is any danger of defeat this time", two pages, light age-related toning, 8vo, Atheneum Club, Pall Mall, 7 June 1775.

Estimated at £150 - £200
