An early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver tea service, Bombay circa 1910

Raj period. In Animal Vignette pattern. Comprising a teapot, a milk jug and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each of compressed circular or globular form upon a stepped spreading circular foot. The teapot with a curved spout formed as an elephant’s head opposite a handled also formed as an elephant’s head fitted with ivory insulators. The hinged domed lid surmounted by detachable finial of a deity riding an elephant. The bodies with embossed decoration of vignettes each with an animal, comprising to the teapot of; a tiger, an elephant, a lion, a chinthe, a horse, another tiger, another elephant and an antelope all above another register of nine vignettes with the same animals but in addition a hound, a fox, a bison. The sugar and milk with gilt interiors. (3)
