A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver gilt ewer (surahi), Cutch circa 1880
Raj period, after the Chinese form, the compressed globular body upon a short spreading foot with a tall cylindrical neck with an applied C scroll handle. The centre of body with an embossed boss of an elephant and calf within large, stylised leaves, all against dense deep chased foliate scroll and flowers, repeated to the neck and handle.
