HSBC interest - An early 20th century Chinese export silver punch bowl, Shanghai dated 1928, marked Kun Chang, retailed by Wang Hing of Canton and Hong Kong
Republic period. Of rounded circular form with a scalloped moulded rim, upon a spreading circular foot. The body with cast and applied decoration of chrysanthemums, with two moths. Engraved to the side with a presentation inscription in Chinese, relating to HSBC Bank, a list of names, and then the date “April 19th Wuchen year of the Chinese calendar, June 6th 1928 of the Western calendar”. Maked underneath with artisan mark 昆昌 (KUN CHANG), numeral 90, and retailer’s mark WH.
