A late 19th century Chinese export silver fruit bowl, Canton circa 1899, retailed by Wang Hing

Qing, dynasty, of hemispherical form with a moulded rim, raised upon a collet foot. The body with embossed decoration of flowering prunus trees and clusters of bamboo, all against textured background. The exterior of foot engraved with presentation inscription “Foochow Spring Meeting 1899 The Gramsay Cup, won by”. The exterior of footrim marked with WH90 and artisan mark 寶生 (BAO SHENG).

Weight – 656 grams / 21.09 ozt

In 1845 the British consulate was established in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China.
