RELICS OF EXTINCT BIRDS: A FEATHER OF A CAROLINA PARAKEET, CONUROPSIS CAROLINENSIS

Eastern United States, extinct since 21/2/1918, in display box, of Natural History interest,

the feather 41mm long

Extinct since 1918. The northernmost parrot species, whose range is supposed to have reached up the east coast of North America as far as Ontario. The precise cause of its extinction is not known, but the blame can firmly be placed on man.

Provenance: from the collection of celebrated taxidermist Barry Williams.
