An early 20th century Chinese export silver cocktail shaker, Shanghai dated 1906 by Xin retailed by Tuck Chang

Qing dynasty, of tapering cylindrical form with a domed pull-off lid and a cylindrical cap. The body and lid with embossed decoration of peonies all against a textured ground. The front with a shield shape cartouche engraved with a presentation inscription reading “Kapitan Hansen zur 100 . Reise Shanghai Janvar 1906”. The base edge engraved with names O. Marechal, W. Wilshushen, C.Hoppenberg, D. Buse, A. Widmann, E. Vennewitz, P. Ungewitter. Marked underneath with artisan mark 信 (XIN) and retailer’s mark TC.
