A rare mid to late 19th century Anglo - Indian silver butter dish on stand, Kashmir circa 1870

Raj period. The butter dish of tapering cylindrical form with a pull off lid rising to a central point with inverted truncated conical and knop finial. The stand of circular form with a scalloped edge. The butter dish modelled after a Kashmiri lacquered papier mache turban box. Each all over with chased decoration in shawl pattern. Gilt interior.

Dish diameter – 10 cm / 3.9 inches

Height – 9.8 cm / 3.9 inches
