A mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) unmarked silver fruit basket, Shiraz circa 1940

Pahlavi dynasty. Of oval form with a shaped undulating rim, raised upon four cast feet with the winged symbol of Ahura Mazda (Ormuzd) supreme god of the Zoroastrian faith. The body with chased monabbat-kari decoration in the Achaemenid revival style pf a seated King Darius with fan bears, Darius fighting Ahriman, Shapur II receiving the ring of office from Ahura Mazda the supreme Zoroastrian god, all within large cabbage roses and foliage. The fixed handle with bifurcated leafy junctions.
